How we use AI

Our mission is to empower every Dungeon Master to build their own homebrew. So new technology shows up in our daily lives, and most of it is garbage that fades away over time.

But every once in a while, something useful does stick around, and that's the kind of technology that we aim to embrace. Once of these technologies is AI.

But we want to be completely transparent about our usage of AI, because it's a slippery slope for certain.

1. Data Parsing

One of the best uses of AI is to parse a user's prompt into our game assets system.

What does that mean?

Desciptions of your NPCs, monsters, items, etc are passed into our parsing AI models when using the Text-Based Generator.

This enables us to create structured, searchable, modifyable, extendable game assets which our build tools require, and helps World Wizard to know what to do when context is given in your requests which require additional context to build a supporting cast for your adventures.

2. Image Generation

We host a direct connection to various AI models for image generation for your game assets.

Note - AI portraits are optional as we also support file uploads. We're leaving it up to you if you want to use portrait generators or not.

3. Backstory Generation

We also have various AI models that we use for generating basic backstory points for game assets.

Note - AI backstory generation is also optional.

Our stance on AI

It might be better than nothing

AI generater artwork is not ethical at it's code, but it can still be a useful tool if used properly. it can be used as a placeholder, as a reference for real human creative works, or provide some needed context which can be, "Better than nothing". We are not pro ai art, but we provide an outlet for you to make the decision for yourself.

LLMs have more uses

We've found that the best usage for AI is actually parsing natural text into World Wizard JSON structured data, which allows you-the creator to generate assets with just a natural description which removes the need to fill out boring forms.

We also use LLMs to get context-driven decision making by feeding natural text through a model.

These models help us generate supporting characters, and other game assets to enrich your world much easier.

Recaps and summaries. AI can be a useful tool to summarize your homebrew details, as well as record session notes as recaps on paper for later referrence.
